Cyan Dee is  M Edmondson's 'sub brand', so to speak...

These works are made during the Lockdown.
I’ve found myself addicted  to quick ‘one-a-day’ oil drawings on mylar (archival polymer) sheet. The surface is slippery hence it stops me from overworking and becoming my usual control-freaky self. In huge contrast to my normal large studio paintings, the immediacy is incredibly gratifying, and making these has become a kind of meditation where I can maintain some sort of calm and stay ‘relatively’ sane.
The them is ‘Fandom' : I always find the, useless yet often enormous, emotional investment towards the projections of one’s yearning and desire melancholic and compelling.
Over 12 weeks into the lockdown, still from my home make shift studio, I have now progressed to making  some small quick oil paintings on linen and aluminium boards.. 'Fandom' or not, I am painting from found images from which I find compelling.
Please note that I am signing these 'Lockdown' series as Cyan Dee, not M Edmondson.
(I warn you there are lots and still multiplying. I will edit them out in due course but can't bear to t right now as I feel these little pieces read almost like my Lockdown diary.....)
